¿Qué es una plataforma elevadora?

An aerial work platform (AWP) is equipment designed to provide temporary elevated access for personnel, tools and materials.

The term covers several machine categories rather than one particular machine design.

Modern standards and industry terminology also commonly use Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) for mobile machines designed to elevate personnel to a working position.

Scissor lifts, vertical mast lifts, articulated boom lifts and telescopic boom lifts are therefore different types of aerial work platforms.

This distinction is important when selecting equipment: two machines with similar working heights can provide completely different types of access.

Aerial Work Platforms for Construcción

Construcción projects can require several different forms of elevated access. A scissor lift can provide a large platform for installation work where the work area is directly overhead, while boom lifts provide access to locations requiring horizontal reach.

Aerial Work Platform Working Heights

Working height is one of the first specifications buyers consider, but it should not be considered alone.

Two aerial platforms may provide a similar maximum working height while having substantially different machine widths, platform dimensions, load capacities, turning radii, horizontal outreach, indoor/outdoor capabilities and terrain capabilities.

For this reason, the most appropriate machine is not necessarily the one with the highest reach. The objective should be to select the smallest suitable machine that can safely and effectively provide the access required for the application.

Buying an Aerial Work Platform

Businesses purchasing aerial work platforms should evaluate the machine according to its intended use rather than comparing only maximum working height and purchase price.

• Required working height: How high is the actual work point?
• Type of access: Do you need vertical elevation only, or horizontal outreach as well?
• Working environment: Will the machine operate indoors, outdoors or both?
• Ground conditions: Will it operate on a firm slab or more demanding terrain?
• Machine dimensions: Are there doorways, aisles or other access restrictions?
• Platform capacity: How many people, tools and materials need to be elevated?
• Frequency of use: Is the machine intended for occasional maintenance, continuous industrial use or a rental fleet?
• After-sales support: Availability of technical support and spare parts should be considered throughout the machine’s service life.
